5 April 2013 (London, UK)- Rob Yong, co-founder of Nottingham’s famous Dusk Till Dawn(DTD) poker club, appears on the front cover of Bluff Europe magazine this month with a rallying cry to poker all over the UK to get behind the forthcoming ISPT at Wembley Stadium. Rob talks candidly about DTD’s decision to operate and manage the tournament, as well as guarantee it for €1m to the winner, vowing that he would make the event a real success for UK poker.
Yong stressed that the guarantee of a minimum of €1 million to the winner stands regardless of the number of runners the tournament attracts, with a maximum of 20% taken out of the prize pool for first place, leaving 80% to the remaining places.
The live event will take place on 31 May until 5 June 2013 at the iconic stadium in north-west London, with players having qualified from a series of €300 day ones, played online all over the world. Ten per cent of the field from each day one will be spirited, with their stacks, to Wembley to play for the big prize. Trumper explained that the structure of the event will closely mirror that of the WSOP Main Event.
“The most exciting thing about this tournament, apart from the financial guarantee – is that this is a unique situation,” Rob told Bluff Europe. “ISPT has booked Wembley stadium for a week for a significant amount of money and we have the opportunity to go and use that facility. This chance may never happen again in our lifetimes.”
It’s Rob’s ambition to galvanise players and the industry to make the ISPT a success, something he feels that DTD is in a unique position to do. “We’re not seen as competition,” he says. “You’ve got the industry, you’ve got poker players and I think our position is in between, so we have a chance to unite everyone together. I would love to have, on an ongoing basis, in some form, the biggest poker event in Europe in the UK, with all the UK poker industry involved.”
